Ilsham Church of England Academy has been supported by local company ProBuild Scaffolding to provide some role play resources for the children in the Early Years Foundation Stage.  The children have loved getting to grips with high-visibility jackets, hard hats and tools to use in their play and learning.  Immersive role play carries so many benefits for children, and allowing them to see career opportunities available to them is equally vital.

Louis and Lynsey Bergin from ProBuild Scaffolding commented “It’s key for us to acknowledge that not every child will follow an academic pathway and there are viable options among other careers for children to aspire to.  We are very excited to be supporting local schools, communities and children are are really happy knowing that pupils are enjoying playing with the equipment”.

Ilsham Academy works very closely with the wider community. This means that the school is able to provide experiences and resources to enhance the curriculum offer for all children.  Most recently, the school has welcomed in the team from Me and Mrs Jones Deli to cook with the children in their Design and Technology lessons, a former England Lioness footballer to deliver a PE session and visited the local florist to support Science learning.

The school aims for children to be inspired – ‘you cannot be what you cannot see’.  Working with Pro Build Scaffolding and the wider community is another example of how we are able to broaden our children’s understanding and awareness to a range of professions.
