Four pupils at Ilsham Academy, part of the Learning Academy Partnership, have raised £130 for Animals in Distress. The children took it upon themselves to work together in their own time as they made bracelets and animals for their fellow pupils at the school. There was a stall set up after school and the children raised a substantial sum for the charity.
Animals in Distress came to visit the children in the school. As part of the school visit, the whole school gathered to recognise the achievements of the pupils and to understand the impact of the money that has been raised. The children’s contributions will be able to feed one of the animals for over five months!
Ilsham Academy are really proud of what the children have achieved. “As a school, we work closely with our community. We recently reshaped our school vision and values with the input of the children, the parents and the local community. We want our children to be courageous so that they speak up out against issues of injustice, often on behalf of those whose voice is not heard. These four children have already inspired other children to enact change and we have some more fundraising events on the horizon organised entirely by our children.”
